Warning Signs of Foundation Problems
Some typical signs that your house is experiencing foundation problems and is in need of foundation repair are:
Sloped or uneven floors:
If you can roll a marble down one side of the room, there is a good chance that your foundation has started to settle unevenly. If this goes without being check it will get worse over time and cost more money to be fixed.
Cracked walls or ceilings:
Look at all corners were walls come together, look at windows, doors, at the joints where the walls meet the ceilings if there are signs that they are pulling away from each other then you might have foundation issues. This once again can be because of severe foundation problems. It is a good idea to walk around the outside of your house and look at your foundation to see if there are any cracks. Foundation cracks are not always prevalent or easily noticed. If you do see any of these problems it is a good idea to call and have your foundation inspected by one of our experts immediately.
Foundation walls cracked, separated or offset.
If you start to notice cracks in your foundation walls, this is a good sign that your foundation is starting to fail and you need to get an expert out to take a look at it. Waiting could result in more severe damage and a more expensive repair bill.
Additional foundation repair symptoms to keep an eye out for:
- Doors, windows, cabinets sticking out and becoming more difficult to open.
- Cracks in brick chimneys, walls or patios
- Chimneys leaning away from the building
- Basement walls buckled or bowed
- Retaining walls leaning
And remember, THESE SYMPTOMS will usually get WORSE in time.
